Tucson Water, a public water utility serving 725,000 people, wanted to use pre-existing 21- and 36-inch reinforced concrete pipes (RCP), as well as work within the confines of Arizona DOT and Union Pacific Railroad rights-of-way, to limit impacts to an archaeologically sensitive area when faced with reactivating a well field to supplement water demands for southern Tucson, Arizona. After considering multiple materials and installation types, they chose to slipline the existing pipes with approximately 7,400 feet of 14- and 16-inch Fusible PVC® pipe. This was the utility’s first time using the pipe material.
