Robert F. Kennedy Bridge Concrete Super Structure Repair with Tyfo® Fiber-Reinforced Polymer System
Municipal Infrastructure Rehabilitation
Structural FRP Reinforcement
The Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority required the repair of the existing Robert F. Kennedy Bridge concrete super structure due to concrete spalling and deterioration. WSP and HNTB, consulting engineering firms, developed the design for the concrete repair and protection plan. The concrete spall was chipped and removed from the pier cap and the concrete replaced as required. Once the concrete cured, a layer of Tyfo® WEB bi-directional glass fiber was installed to protect the concrete structure from the elements and future degradation.
