The beautiful low country islands of Harbor, Hunting and Fripp Island are linked to St. Helena Island near Beaufort, South Carolina by way of the Sea Island Parkway, also known as US Highway 21. Harbor River Bridge, a charming 80-year old truss swing bridge over Harbor River is the last bridge that stands between those islands and a vacationer’s paradise. This bridge blocks the path of many shrimp boats, sailboats and charters cruising the Intracoastal Waterway, and when opened, impedes countless motorists to and from the islands.
