Clean and reliable drinking water, followed by sewage collection and disposal, are integral parts of the overall public health of a community. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers programs qualifying rural areas to provide long-term, low interest loans or grants towards water related public works. Henry County Water Authority and Russell County Water Authority are two Alabama water systems who utilized the USDA for partial or full funding of their water system improvements in 2018. Trenchless installation methodologies like horizontal directional drilling and advanced piping technology like Fusible PVC® pipe were used on these projects to maximize the installation savings and the overall benefit of those USDA dollars to the Water Authorities.
