Butte is located in the southwest corner of Montana along the western edge of the continental divide. Butte – Silver Bow County has a population near 60,000 and is known for its colorful history of mining and wealth. Historically, It boasts one of the largest copper mines in the US and gained the moniker “The Richest Hill on Earth.” As the price of precious metals have fluctuated, so has Butte’s economy. More recently, efforts have been made to diversify and steady the business base and attract other industries to Butte.
