Onshore Cathodic Protection Solutions
At Hockway, we have a great deal of experience in supplying corrosion control systems from design to project management to maintenance. We have worked in some of the harshest environments on earth--places so far from conventional power sources that only solar and wind turbine systems are available. In some cases, we have performed work in areas once thought to be too hazardous for equipment, but our own in-house build and design services have made safe. Most importantly, we've made sure our timely and efficient services, materials and know-how has acted as an absolute asset for EPC contractors.
Innovations that last
We believe not only is our lasting experience is an asset, but so is our innovative attitude towards material manufacture and supply, system design, surveys and monitoring. This section of the website includes a selection of our onshore corrosion protection solutions along with a few recommendations. Where our stated services don't suit your requirements exactly, our experience, adaptable design, quality build systems and determined, can-do attitude in providing lasting corrosion control answers are more than likely to fulfill your requirements.
Hockway supplies the highest quality cathodic protection for buried and submerged pipelines as an effective secondary defence after factory and field-applied coatings. Our equipment, material, capabilities and expertise can cover your onshore assets' corrosion control needs with the most up-to-date effective and innovative methods available.
Lasting Experience
Our comprehensive, technical know-how comes with in depth experience. In fact, we have three decades worth of peace of mind to offer our clients, including up-to-date experience in the most challenging environments. For instance, we supply pipelines with custom designed DC/DC converters installed within remote control cubicles.
End-to-End Project Management Capabilities
We can support your onshore piping protection project at every stage of the process--from initial surveys to conceptual design to detailed design and from material supply to installation supervision and from commisioning to operation and maintenance.
System Management and Control
We can provide you with custom-designed remote monitoring and control systems that are easy to operate and maintain. Ongoing operation and maintenance services can be part of your package.
It has become increasingly necessary to protect vital buried utility and process lines within process plants. We supply cathodic protection to protect carbon steel and stainless steel buried in plant piping from corrosion and to provide a powerful secondary defence to factory and field applied coatings.
Project Management: We understand the key issues and critical activities of managing a process plant project, which makes us a valuable support for EPC contractors by helping them anticipate issues and effectively integrating the corrosion control within the overall project.
System Management and Control: We provide you with custom-designed remote monitoring and control systems that are easy to operate and maintain. We can also offer you ongoing operation and maintenance service as part of your package.
Lasting, Groundbreaking Experience: We recently supplied a large field development project with over 100 close anode systems. Each system needed 10 canistered MMO anodes and independent power supplies, all of which we manufactured in-house.
Time-limited and Long-term Prevention Material: We supply sacrificial anodes for corrosion control for a limited time, or long-term corrosion control with impressed currents through most available anode material.
Temporary
Temporary systems can be used where construction periods are likely to be extensive and the soil is particularly corrosive.
Zinc Ribbon Sacrificial Anodes: We supply a range of sizes to provide you with an easily installed, low cost and maintenance free method of protection.
Magnesium Packaged Sacrificial Anodes: These are a popular choice for hotspot or temporary corrosion control.
Long-term
Impressed Current Anodes: We supply the industry preferred mixed metal oxide coated titanium (MMO) anode with high resistance Kynar or Halar cables.
Anode Proximity: We supply popular close anode systems designed to be placed at regular intervals within 2m to 3m of the buried pipe. We can also supply remote systems, but these, in our opinion, are less effective and more susceptible to interference.
A Unique Hazardous Area Protection Capability
Our ATEX certified power supplies allow us to design a cathodic protection system within hazardous areas, as the power supplies can be located in Zone II areas. The specific benefits are:
- It reduces the armoured cable runs, which can significantly reduce your material cost
- More importantly, it reduces the installation time and dramatically brings forward your overall project schedule.
Hockway offers a variety of anodes for internal tank protection.
Sacrificial Cathodic Protection Systems
We provide aluminum, zinc and other alloy anodes for internal tank protection.
Impressed Cathodic Protection Systems
Our MMO wire systems can be powered separately or can use an integrated dual channel (independent) power supply with one channel for the undertank and the other for the internal system.
Our in-depth understanding of tank design and construction schedules allow us supply corrosion control system engineering, documentation and materials at the right time and place to support your project.
We stock extensive undertank anode material to make sure these materials are delivered to support the construction schedule.
System Types:
- MMO grid
- MMO piggyback
- shallow groundbeds
- deepwell groundbeds
Grid System
Lower material costs are counter balanced by more difficult installation, resulting in higher installation costs.
Wire or Piggy Back System
This is made up of independently cabled MMO loops which not only provide some redundancy, but are easier to install, even with unskilled labour. Because the undertank anode system cannot be maintained after installation, we strongly recommend the wire system.
In-house Design and Built Power Supplies
Our capabilities include multi-channel power supplies and hazardous area units so we can tailor systems for specific projects.
System Management and Control
We provide you with custom-designed remote monitoring and control systems that are easy to operate and maintain. We can also offer you ongoing operations and maintenance services as part of your package.
It is becoming increasingly necessary for oil and gas operators to protect their production well casings from corrosion with cathodic protection. Hockway has been involved in the conceptual design and application of many well casing protection systems. At Hockway, we have extensive experience in the design, survey (E-log i), materials supply and installation of all these systems.
Anode Systems
We supply and install deepwell MMO anodes to protect a single of cluster of wells.
Solar Power Supplies
As production wells tend to be in remote locations away from AC power supplies, we offer solar powered cathodic protection systems. We have extensive experience in the specification, manufacture, installation and operation of these systems. Solar system controllers can be manufactured in-house to give a common interface and control with our transformer rectifiers on other parts of the system.
AC Power Supplies
We have a number of designs available for both air-cooled and oil-cooled transformer rectifier units. These are manufactured in-house to the highest quality standards.
